How the Masters is secretly battling online resellers
The Masters has implemented a new tactic to battle online resellers, targeting Ebay and Craigslist sellers. Savvy sellers typically post a picture of the tickets, but have the serial number covered to remain anonymous. For the 2017 tournament, The Masters has included on all tickets a subtle 6 segment color bar between Masters and the date of the tickets, which indicates the serial number of the ticket. Each segment can be one of 10 colors, indicating 0-9 or a letter depending on the placement. Now even if the serial number is covered, the color bar can be decoded to reveal the ticket number.
